Chancellor's Certificate in Business Applications
As software applications continue to become more integrated and compatible, you must be proficient in a variety of these applications to be successful in today's office environment. You may need to use a database file to check inventory, create a spreadsheet to organize and analyze financial data, design slides for a meeting, or communicate your progress to your work group. Through this certificate program, you will develop these computer skills and learn to use spreadsheet, database management, and office productivity software.

Prerequisites
You should be proficient with the Windows environment and be able to find files, create folders, organize and manage files and folders, work with multiple windows, and share data between applications via the Clipboard. If you are unable to do these tasks, you should take Intermediate Applications of Windows. You are required to complete any prerequisites listed for certificate classes. (These classes will not count toward the required 72 hours.) Be sure to check the course descriptions for specific prerequisites.

Certificate Class Requirements
A minimum of 72 hours is required – 24 hours from Database, 18 hours from Spreadsheet, 18 hours from Office Productivity, and 12 additional hours chosen from the list below.

Complete 12 additional hours from the classes listed above.

 

Certificate Requirements
Complete the application form and return it with your $25 nonrefundable fee. All classes must be completed through the UM-St. Louis Microcomputer Program within two years of submitting the application. (Note: Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis; submitting the application and paying the fee doesn’t guarantee a seat in any class.)

If you have completed one or more of these classes through the Microcomputer Program in the 24 months prior to completing your application, they may be applied to this certificate. You can list these classes on your application form. Granting approval for these classes depends on verification of satisfactory completion of each class.

Note: A class can be applied to only one specialized certificate.

Note: You do not have to be enrolled in the Certificate program to take these classes.

Note: You also receive CEUs for successful completion of each class. Students completing the Business Applications Chancellor's Certificate receive at least 7.2 CEUs. The hours completed in these classes will also be applied toward the 96-hour Chancellor's Certificate on the Computer. Other certificates are also available.
